The Mercer County Republican Committee held its annual Lincoln Day Dinner on Saturday, February 4th. The event was a wonderful success and everyone enjoyed an update by Congressman Mike Kelly. Congressman Kelly gave everyone great insight as to the happenings in Washington and some of the concerns he has on some critical issues.
A number of special guests were on hand including former Congressman Phil English, State Senator Bob Robbins, State Representatives Dick Stevenson and Michele Brooks, Commissioner John Lechner, newly elected Commissioner Matt McConnell, newly elected Recorder of Deeds DeeDee Zickar and Jury Commissioner Edna Gibson. Guests attended from several surrounding counties, including Erie, Lawrence, Butler and Washington Counties.
Candidates for various offices were given the opportunity to speak and share their visions and candidates for delegate and alternate delegate to the Republican National Convention were introduced.
Republican State Committee Field Director Ben Wren read a letter from State Republican Chairman Rob Gleason congratulating the Mercer County Republican Party for their organization and hard work in taking control of the Mercer County Courthouse. Mercer County was one of 12 counties that changed into Republican hands in 2011. Republicans now control 52 out of 67 Courthouses in Pennsylvania. Ben presented Chairman Dave King with an award from the State Party for that outstanding accomplishment.
